The Hopi have their order maintained during the Kachina season. For example, the Kachina guards patrol the ceremonies in the kiva and plazas against fire and confusion. They escort Kachina dancers along the way in the ceremonies, monitoring villagers in the plaza to prevent chaos.
Mountain Lion Kachina is a warrior and guard who wears double bandoliers, dotted leggings, and fringe leather anklets. The bandoliers with bows and arrows always hang on their houses' outer door and never take into the rooms.
Hololo Kachina has big ears, pop eyes and snout, Muyao is crescent on its face. It is sometimes to be seen with a bow and a rattle.
Palavitkuna Red Kilt Runner Kachina wears an anklet on the lower leg made from leather with geometric patterns. He rewards the winners in the race with piki bread. The original doll was carved by Wilson Kaye.
Broad-Face Kachina is a typical form of the guards, and as he appears in the Bean Dance on all three mesas. This kachina carries yucca whips to prevent interruptions, protect the kachina dancers, punish the disorderly clowns and enforce the villagers to clean the community areas together.
Chiffoneti, the Clown Kachina, don't wear helmets but instead painted themselves with black and white stripes from head to toe. They provide comic amusement between the kachina dancer's break. They gossip about the incidents that happened in the villages or imitated spectators in the crowd.
